Updated: Jun 29, 2020

Mou shares her insights as a therapist with over two decades of experience!

Episode Recap

Ashley is joined by author, documentarian, and therapist Moushumi Ghose, to discuss the connection between shame and sex, as well as navigating conflict in relationships and how to fight well.

  • “A lot of the shame that we hold on to in terms of sexuality has become useless.” - Mou

  • “Like shit people are dying--now is the time to be your realest self because you want to be around other humans that resonate on that frequency.” - Mou

  • “Quarantine means getting more creative in terms of intimacy and sexuality. I recommend pushing the envelope or doing something a little outside of your comfort zone.” -Mou

  • “Trauma is contagious and exponential.” -Mou

  • “Trauma can be anything that pulls the rug out from under you and you fall on your ass and you look up and everything hurts and is spinning and you’re like what the hell.” -Mou

  • “The signs I encourage people to look for are sweaty palms, heart racing fast, pit in the stomach, butterflies, anxious, face is flushed and hot, stop seeing straight, lightheaded, rageful- that is what activation or a trigger feels like.” -Mou

  • “The goal is not to blame yourself for the trigger, but to recognize that the trauma now creates a story and that story is a lie, it’s old news, it doesn’t exist anymore, it’s not happening in that moment.” -Mou

  • “Self-awareness is one of the sexiest traits you can have.” -Ashley
